Located on a research campus of Western Michigan University, the Newell Rubbermaid Design Center was created to support collaborative teams of designers to develop new products that are as small as a pen and as large as backyard storage shed. ABD Engineering and Design worked with Byce and Associates to develop acoustical recommendations, including mechanical noise control, noise isolation, and room acoustics. Our consultants also verified implementation of our recommendations to help achieve Green Globes certification. This 2015 AIA Chicago Design Excellence Award winning design provides the popular exposed structure, while adding acoustic treatment to help the spaces sound as good as they look.
