After NAI West Michigan moved into their new office space in downtown Grand Rapids, they discovered several acoustic problems that posed significant challenges to the work environment. The open plan office had a very low ambient noise level and lots of hard surfaces allowing conversations to be heard from one side of the office to the other. The result was a low level of privacy and a high level of worker distraction.
ABD Engineering and Design was retained by the owner to offer recommendations for acoustical improvements to enhance the open office spaces, café, reception, and meeting rooms. Our professional engineers modeled the space in 3D, and designed acoustical improvements that made the office sound as good as it looked.
