Acoustics By Design is one of the nation’s leading independent acoustical consultants, and now we’ve added a Pacific Northwest office in Portland, right across from Pioneer Square. The new location allows us to provide local and efficient service to architects, engineers, facility directors, municipalities, and building owners, up and down the West Coast, and throughout the Northwest. While the office may be new, we’re not new to the area.
Acoustics By Design has consulted on many projects throughout the country, and internationally, for more than 50 years. Our company President, Kenric Van Wyk, worked as an acoustical consultant in Vancouver, British Columbia for almost 10 years. Our Director of Acoustics, and Senior Acoustical Consultant, Melinda Miller, is excited to be back in Portland. In her career, Melinda has provided acoustical consulting in Portland for a variety of projects, and worked with some notable architecture firms. A few of her projects include:

Along with Melinda’s Portland projects, our team includes experienced acoustical consultants, acoustical engineers, noise consultants, and vibration consultants. Our firm also includes an integrated team of audio-visual consultants who design audio, video, theatrical lighting, and technical systems and integrate them with the native acoustical environment.
Kenric Van Wyk is also President of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. The NCAC is the only North American organization fully devoted to verifying the credentials of acoustical consulting firms. They certify that we are Professional Engineers and that we are independent consultants. As an independent acoustical consulting firm, neither Acoustics By Design nor its acoustical consultants, or AVL consultants, represent any manufacturers, suppliers, or resellers of acoustical products, sound systems, or other technologies. In other words, Acoustics By Design performs consulting services only, and does not manufacture, sell, or install any products.
