Acoustics By Design provides AVL and acoustical consulting from our offices in Grand Rapids and Detroit, Michigan, and Portland, Oregon, on projects throughout the United States, and around the world. If you’re trying to get started in the field of acoustics, but perhaps you don’t have access to a lot of acoustical consultants, what do you do?
Meet Corentin Blanchard, an acoustical engineering student in France. Corentin writes and conducts interviews for his blog, Acoustics in the US. His most recent interview is with Kenric Van Wyk, President of Acoustics By Design, and President of the National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC).
In the interview, Kenric talks about Acoustics By Design’s work in Acoustical Consulting and Technical Systems Design for:
- Health Care and HIPAA
- FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities
- University and Colleges
- K-12 Schools and Education
- Corporate Environments
- Church and Worship Spaces
- Auditoriums
- Outdoor
- Residential and Mixed Use
- Noise and Vibration
- Expert Witness
Kenric discusses everything from his own role as owner and President, to our project process, and corporate culture.
Corentin asked specifically about acoustics for churches, and referenced the Worship Facilities article interview of Kenric Van Wyk, 4 Acoustics Myths Debunked. The architectural and acoustic design for traditional churches and contemporary churches was a new topic for Corentin, pointing out some differences between worship spaces in the United States and France.
Kenric talked about all the different projects he’s working on including writing his President’s Message for the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. Look for that in a future blog post from Acoustics By Design.
